Pastels are a medium you have to handle with care. With my process, smearing them, in the way that I work, is taboo. Therefore, I do not work the whole surface simultaneously as I do when I’m painting. I begin usually in the top left corner and methodically work my way across the archival black page. I like the way the black makes the colors pop. Though painful to do, breaking the pastel sticks gives me the sharp edges I desire to get the fine lines that are my signature stroke. These works are usually a combination of figurative and abstract patterns. With the wide variety of avalible colors, the possibilities  for this medium are endless!
