PAINTINGS
As a painter, images have always found me. Being immersed in the environment, I am always aware of my surroundings, both visual and audible. When I see the human figure, I see beyond what is in front of me and imagine it in compositions on my canvas. Therefore, they are usually not anatomically correct. Extending the arms, accentuates their grace. Artistic license gives me this right. Art, for me, is an expression of a thought, a mood, a feeling. I have interpreted many stories told to me, and many of my own, primarily with acrylics, mixed media and pastels. I prefer brighter colors, and often will include the sun as a beacon of hope, for I’m always looking for the good in humanity and the brightness of day. If not this one, maybe tomorrow….but when my canvas is composed of dark colors, I have to accept that as a valid emotion also.
